Picking up Jett

A couple of times we have picked up Jett at school.  We have learned to "fit right in" with the carpool crowd!!  With the name tag on the mirror we drive in front of the school and he is waiting to get in!

The first time, the car was packed!  He opened the back door to put in his trombone and saw there was "no room"!!  He had quite the shocked look!

The second time, we surprised him!  He went to Mat's football game with us!
He got a glimpse of us so moving toward the curb.

Of course, a snack is always in order after school!!

Storm Damage

Powerful winds and storms moved across the farm!  The wind made havoc with our panel fence!
Things were blown around and a few shingles on the dormers of the house were blown off.
What was done was just a nuisance - it could have been much worse!!

Large tree limbs broken

The gate was bent

How did this happen??

Panels down and some twisted

My plow at the mailbox was turned over!!
We are trying to decide if it was due to storms or did someone run over it since it looks like a tire track is in the flowerbed.  If someone did, they sure have damage on their vehicle!!

Shingles off on the dormers

Across the turnpike electrical poles were snapped into.  The workmen think it was possibly a small tornado from the damage they saw!
Bad enough - just thankful it was not worse!!

New Lawn Equipment

A new house calls for lawn equipment.  We are well supplied at the farm for large areas of mowing with the riding lawnmower and the Zero turn mowers.  Now we needed something smaller, the push mower!

Ready for a well manicured lawn!!

The Garage

After shopping at the Rink the Elliott Family met us at The Garage.  Yum!  Yum!!  Delicious!
What a great place to eat!  Their burgers taste like ones made in a small hamburger place, Folgers, in Ada!

The Rink

Mel and I went to a great antique store, The Rink.  We were looking for items to put in the house.
What a neat place to shop!!

We found table and chairs for our kitchen dining area.

Setting Up the Bed

One of our headboards needed an adapter plate for the frames.  Also, we needed bolts for the headboard and frame.  Would you believe that bolts do not come with bed frames or headboards this day and time???  Why not???
My great handyman put the bed together.  Way to go, Mel!!

Tech Savvy???

Mel and I purchased a new TV, DVD player and an antennae for the house.  We were wondering if we would be able to hook them up.  If not, we knew our sons-in-law would help us.
The TV was simple to do with the antenna.  We needed a shorter extension cord for the DVD player so when we went back to get the cord, we checked with the sales clerk to ask about the DVD.  She told us what to do and to check it.
Wow!!  Believe it or not Mel and I had everything working perfectly!!!  Are we moving toward being "Tech Savvy"???

Moving In

After closing it was time to unload the car, purchase some items and then wait for the delivery trucks to deliver our furniture.  Mathis Brothers would deliver our new furniture.  Two Men and a Truck would pick up and deliver our furniture purchased from Pat.  A busy but exciting day was ahead!!

Purchases for our new house

One important item - the TV

We had Mathis Brothers scheduled between 3 - 9.  Two Men and a Truck were scheduled for 5 -7.
Amberlea was on standby in case we needed someone at the house.  It could not have worked out any better than it did!  Two Men and a Truck called at 4:30 and we met them at Pat's house to get the couch, bed and chest.  They delivered it to our new house; then about 30 minutes later Mathis Brothers delivered our new furniture.  By 6:00 p.m. we had our house furnished with the essentials!!

First things first for Mel !!

Wow!  A busy fun and exciting day!!

Repeat of 1987

In 1987 Mel and I bought our 1st house in Surrey.  After closing we ate at a Mexican restaurant on Expressway, Nino's.    Now 29 years later we ate at the same restaurant (only now it is Chileno's) after closing!!  Is this history repeating itself???

Closing Day

September 15th - closing day for our Surrey Hills house!

After signing many papers we are now officially owners of 2 homes!!

Moving Items

The day before closing arrived.  We loaded the car.  It's amazing the amount that can be packed in a Traverse!  We were spending the night in a hotel (use of our points) so we would be ready for our 10 a.m. closing time.  Afterwards, it would be time to unload.
