Jake's Celebration BBQ
A barbecue was hosted by the Woods Family in honor of Jake's completion of high school! Goodness!! Hard to believe our firstborn grandson has graduated!
A New Chapter in our Life
After much discussion, prayer and looking at pros and cons, we made the decision to sell the farm. It was a hard one, but we felt it was time.
What God had in store for us, we never could have imagined! Mel put a for sale sign out on Wednesday. It blew over and he was putting it up the following Saturday when a neighbor stopped by to ask about the farm. After talking with his wife, they came to see the house later in the day. The farm was sold. Really??? This quickly???
We headed to Yukon house to spend the night since Jake's BBQ was the next day. We had been checking about houses and where we wanted to live. A house that backs up to the new 9 hole golf course was on the market. We had not seen inside except for pictures. We liked the location and I really liked the kitchen.
An appointment was made for 10:00 am the next morning before they had open house that afternoon. When we arrived at the house, the realtor told us that open house had been cancelled because the air conditioner was not cooling properly. Amazing since we were trying to figure out what kind of offer to make thinking other offers might be made at the open house. We made an offer and 30 minutes later we had a house!!
Within 24 hours we had sold the farm and bought another house!! What a whirlwind of activity!!
Since things happened so quickly and they way they did, we feel this is what we are to do!!

The Boys with Us, Wednesday - Friday
Grandpop had a list of things the boys would help us with on the farm. How nice to have big strong young men willing to assist us!
Off to work
Tux thinks this is a good resting place.
Jake helped to load this when we donated it.
Mat loading concrete
Chicken strips and macaroni and cheese make for a good lunch.
Fence repair
Time to paint
The boys favorite lunch - chicken fry steak, cream potatoes and gravy!
After a morning of work and a big lunch, it's time to rest!
Jake helped me decorate the student center for the Alumni Banquet.
Our class of 1968's 50th year
Jake was tall enough to hang the decoration for me.
Decorating completed
What a good time we had with the boys!
Willing, sweet, helpful and loving young men they are!!
How proud we are of them!
The Boys with Us, Tuesday, May 29
After Jerry's surgery and things were going well, we headed to the farm.
Lunch at Cracker Barrel
After getting up early, having lunch and the drive, the boys needed a nap.
We stopped by to visit with Grammy.
The Boys with Us
As Melodi and Bryan headed back to Texas to finish the school year, they dropped Jake and Mat by the Surrey house.
Hideaway Pizza sounded good for supper!
