Remembering Rosa

November 27th was a shocking and very sad day for us as we lost a beloved family member, Rosa.

We are more aware that we should make each day special.

Life is so precious!

Preparing for Bad Weather

Since the weathermen were predicting winter weather, it was time to move hay to the Annex for the cows.

Now we are ready!

November Horse Show

This show completed the season for 2013.  Mel started entering the shows in April.  He had time to learn and practice what judges look for during the competition.
Next year he will be ready to "show them what he and Buttercup can do!"

Mel's Creativity

Mel put his creative mind to work and came up with another "crafty" invention.

He wanted a way to move the air compressor around easily.  What could be built to do that?

Here is the answer:  He used scrap boards and a broken walker.  

How creative!!

Winter Weather

In November we had winter weather.  It was very pretty, especially if you could stay in and not have to be out.
Little did we know that December would bring a winter storm!

Fence Repair

Periodically repairs have to be done on the farm.  Thanks to our bull, we needed to do the repair on fences.  Our bull is good natured and "easy to handle"; however, he enjoys butting things.  He would turn over the mineral feeder, move an empty water trough around in the pasture and push in panels along a fence line.  So, because of his antics, it was time to repair the fence.
More steel posts were put in between the ends of the panels for added support.  My job was holding the posts until Mel could push them in the ground with the bucket of the tractor.

I hold the post until he gets the bucket on the post, then I move out of the way. He then pushes the post into the ground.

That's what you call "teamwork"!

Our Trip to Branson

Mel and I took a group from church to Branson.  We had done this last year and they requested we go again this year.  Due to illness, family situations, etc.  some were not able to go.  9 of us had a wonderful time seeing shows and the sights of Branson, shopping, and having fun just being together!

We saw The Baldknobbers, Patsy Cline Remembered, The Miracle of Christmas and did a lunch cruise on the Branson Showboat.  The first half of each show was regular, then the last half was the Christmas show.  A fun time was enjoyed by all.  

They are already planning for a trip again next year and even a longer stay!
