Jake's Football Game

Mel and I went to Dallas to see the football game between Jake's team and Inspired Vision School.
We found the school, then found Holiday Inn Express close by where we could spend the night.
Our meal was at El Fenix.  They were featuring Hatch chilies in various dishes.  Yum!!
Even though Jake's team lost, he played a good game and we were proud of him!!  Way to go!!

Our Snake Trapper

Late in the evening when I was putting Priscilla in the garage for the night, I noticed she had something trapped.  I was thinking maybe a mouse; however, it was a baby snake!!  I hollered at Mel to come take care of the snake!  My hero, he did!!  Baby snakes grow up to be big snakes and I have no use for any kind of snake, big or little!!

Beautiful Farm Sunset

Nothing more beautiful than the sun setting on the farm!!  

No one could deny that there is a God by the evidence in the beautiful colors in our world!

2nd Cutting of Hay

With all the rains we've had this summer we got a 2nd cutting of hay.  Once it is baled, then time to move it off the field.  That's where my job of "farm wife" comes into play (one of many tasks to be done on the farm)!

Cinnamon Pickles

I made a batch of cinnamon pickles.  The cucumbers need to be large ones and the process takes 4 days.  Not hard, just a process.

When Amberlea was small, she loved these pickles!!

The Brush Cutter

Mel ordered a heavy duty brush trimmer so we can trim brush along the fence line that joins us.

We made a trip to Sherman, Texas to get the trimmer.  

Removing the crate

We attached the blade attachment to the motor.

The trimmer would not go forward!  Come to find out the drive belt was not around one of the pulleys.  After much trying and stress because the access to it was very small, Mel called the company.  We could take it to a shop in Wewoka.  We did and they put it back on for us.

Working good now!!  (After 2 trips)

The only issue now is Mel getting used to the trimmer.  At the start he was almost running after the trimmer!! 

Mel has adjusted to it now!

Moving Dirt

Mel is now working on moving dirt from the clean-out of the pond.  The dump trailer is just what he needs to make headway on the pile of dirt!  He fills holes around the farm with the dirt.
