Our New Kittens

Our cat had 3 kittens at the end of the stall where the chicken (that would get out) liked to lay her eggs.  The cat kept them there for a few days then decided to move them to ld hay barn.  She had them under some lumber stored there.  Monday afternoon I had checked on them and they were doing fine.
Tuesday morning Mel called me from the barn and said he thought the cat had moved her kittens into the strangest place and wanted me to check to see.  Sure enough, she had moved one of the kittens into a box that is on a hanging shelf Mel had fixed a while back for storing new potatoes.
How in the world the cat managed to jump from a nearby shelf onto this hanging shelf is beyond me!  It would be quite a challenge I would think with a kitten in her mouth to make the jump.  Regardless, she did make it.   Evidently overnight the cat moved her three kittens to a storage place in the horse barn and then when Mel had the barn door open feeding the horses and cats, she slipped in with a kitten and put it in the box.

Behind this door is where the cat had her kittens and is the same place the chicken preferred to lay.

Behind this wooden door is where the cat had put the kittens from the old hay barn.  Two of the kittens were still there.   After I found the one in the box on the hanging shelf,  I put the other 2 in the box with the one.  Mama cat seems to be happy and satisfied now!

The Branson Trip

A group from our church asked Mel if he would drive the church bus for a trip to Branson.  He agreed so he and I began planning, then making the necessary reservations for our rooms and tickets for Oct. 29th - 31st.
We had a wonderful group of 15 (counting us and we were the "youngest ones" of the group).  What a  good time together with so many laughs shared.  If laughter is good medicine, none of the group should be sick for a long time to come.
The first night we saw The Presleys.  Tuesday morning we saw 24 Karat Country.  Afterwards shopping, then lunch, and more shopping for some while others went back to the hotel to rest.  That night we saw Joseph.  Wednesday we came home.
Delicious meals were eaten at Lambert's, Fall Creek Steak and Catfish House and The Round-up Catfish Restaurant.
All were asking when the next trip would be!

After the Storm

A couple of weeks ago we had a wind storm with much needed rain.  The winds blew very hard, in fact, further south of us, they were clocked at 80 mph.  Luckily, we did not have much damage, just a couple of aggravating things to take care of.
Our stock trailer was turned to the east instead of south as he had parked it so he was able to move that easily.
The livestock shed at the Annex had blown over 2 flips  It was staked and had stayed through several earlier thunderstorms, but not this one.  So with tractor, chain and patience, he was able to get it back like it should be with an audience of the cows, Jett and myself watching.
