Grammy's Stitches

Grammy somehow closed the pick-up door on her index finger on her right hand.  We knew it needed stitches the way it looked.  Off to the emergency room at Sulphur where the young doctor repaired the damaged finger.

A Surprise Visit

Amberlea called and asked if Jett could come to the farm for a visit since she and Mitch had to work.  What a question for grandparents!  Of course, our answer is always, "Yes", when any of the grandkids and kids can come to the farm.
School work was done first thing of a morning.  It is amazing watching little minds work and think.

Doing a phonics lesson online

After doing school work it is play time.

Jett had a very loose tooth.  He worked and worked to pull it.

Our Baby Calves

To date we have 6 healthy baby calves .  They are so cute - seeing them run with their little tails in the air,  playing with the other calves and their antics.  It's interesting to watch the mother cows protective nature toward their babies.  Hopefully we will have 4 more in the next couple of weeks.

2013

The beginning of a new year is filled with dreams and plans of what is to be accomplished.
On the farm we wonder:
           Will we have more rain?
Will the drought continue this year?
Will we need to sell more cows?
Will we be able to keep our heifer calves for replacements?
           Will there be enough grass?
Will the ponds fill up again soon?
Will be we be blessed with good health?

These and more questions we ponder.  What we must remember is the fact we are not in control of Mother Nature,  the surprises she has for us, or for many other  circumstances that can occur in our lives.
The Lord reminds us in Jeremiah that He knows of the the plans he has for us, not to harm but to prosper.  This we must keep in mind as we go through our daily lives - tentative plans that are subject to change.
We have seen the need to change one set of plans we had - our family trip to the Great Wolf Lodge - due to a family member's health issue.  We have not cancelled - just rescheduled for next month.
So with the beginning of each day we remember to be thankful for our blessings and we also look forward to a wonderful, prosperous and healthy 2013!

Ending 2012

The last day of 2012was one of rain!  How we are so thankful for it since we have been experiencing a drought for 2 years now.  Hopefully, this is prelude to a change in the weather pattern and we will have rain this winter and spring to fill ponds and help the spring grasses and pastures.

Sure has been a long time since we had puddles!!!

Mel and I enjoyed using Amberlea's cheese dip recipe!

We look to 2013 as a promising healthy and prosperous year.
