The Horses' Antics

These 2 horses look just as sweet and docile as can be; however, they can have "their moments".  In fact, they remind us of children with their misbehavior!
Sunday afternoon was very pretty so Mel and I decided to ride them.  Mel saddled them up and off we went to visit Grammy.  We tied the horses to the ramp at Grammy's while we visited with her.  All at once I looked out the window and Rosebud was running down the driveway!.  We jumped in Grammy's pick-up and headed down.  After a ways, she turned around and headed back.  Close to the house she let Mel catch her.  She had broken her reins.  He repaired the reins and was going to tie her to the ramp again when she became upset.  Something had scared her there and she definitely did not like it.  He decided to tie her to a tree instead.  During all of this Freckles was still tied up, but stomping her hoof (her way of protesting and not being ignored).  After a short visit we headed back home and all was well.
We rode again Monday afternoon - 2 days in a row - and the horses were not used to that.  We enjoyed a nice ride.
Tuesday,  the weather was not good for riding, but Mel went out to put the bridle on them anyway.  They started toward the barn to eat and did allow him to do that.
Wednesday,  the horses did not start toward the barn for feeding time.  They just stood in the pasture looking at Mel.  He started out with the bridle and hurriedly they ran to the back side of the pasture.  They stayed down there until dark, but did face the house as though they were watching us.  Mel had closed the stall doors so they would not get any feed that night.  The next morning they came into the barn and their heads were ready for the bridles!
They pulled the same stunt on Friday.  They act just like kids!  So, we have the "meeting of the wills" between Mel and the horses!!
