Buttercup Comes to the Farm

6 weeks after purchasing Reygun Buttercup,  she came home to Surrey Hills Farm.  Mel had left her at Ardmore so he could practice with Andy, the trainer, in the various categories of the horse show competition.

The chickens seemed to catch her attention!

The 3 horses already on the farm noticed immediately a new one.  They were very curious and neighing between the horses was sure going on.

Mel's "pride and joy"

Buttercup has settled in nicely.  In fact, she seems to be the "queen of the hill".  After being with other horses in a pasture with no grass, I'm sure she is enjoying being "the only horse" in her paddock and having an abundance of green grass.

May Horse Show

Mel improved in the May Horse Show.  He was third in Cow Working, third in Reining, and sixth in Pleasure.  Overall he came in sixth!  Congratulations!
The day was beautiful so we enjoyed a picnic lunch between competitions.

Kids and Grandkids on the Farm

Melodi and the kids came in for a few days and fortunately, Amberlea was able to schedule her work so that she and Jett were here as well.
What fun we have with them here! The farm becomes a busy place with 5 grandkids ready to play and enjoy each other as well as the wide open spaces!

Crawling through the fence to do chores

Jacob and Mathew are so grown up now.  Grandpop had them help to get a few things done around the barn.  They are good help!

Grammy, wearing her bonnet, came to visit

Emma and McKaylea showed Grammy their embroidery projects

An Early Mother's Day Surprise!
The girls planned a pedicure for all of "us girls".  What a great "girl time" together.

Picking out polish

Since this was my first time, it seems as though my expression says that I'm not quite for sure about this.

Looks as though I have changed my mind now!!

Nice and relaxing!

Grandpop had peanut butter and crackers so the grandkids thought they would share with him.

Outside time

The Park
Since the weather was so beautiful , we decided to have pizza in the park and the let the kids wade in the park creeks.  Grammy went along with us and brought some delicious brownies.

The water fun and search began

Wet, dirty tired kids piled in the car to go home.

Time to Relax

Mat's birthday was on Wednesday.  He requested strawberry shortcake for his birthday dessert.

The handsome birthday boy - hard to believe he is 12 now!

The kids had so much fun digging in the former gopher hole.  They added water to make a water feature.  Mud on themselves and clothes was more like it.

Muddy kids call for outside "hose off" showers!
Nothing like shampoo for "total body wash" and the garden hose!

The next day we made desserts for Mat's birthday dinner.
Amberlea did the chocolate pie.

Melodi did the lemon pie.

The girls working

The completed pies - Yum! Yum!

Mat's request was chicken fried steak.  He loves to help me cook!

Amberlea did the mashed potatoes

Everyone enjoyed Mat's birthday meal

Later in the afternoon Grandpop decided to go to the barn and work.  We knew Mat and Jake were going but did not realize until later that all 5 went with him.  The condition was:  You have to work!  Grandpop put them all to work taking out panels.  Emma and Jett cut wire with pliers;  McKaylea picked up the wire with a magnet;  Jake and Mat helped Granpop set the panels!  They all did a good job!

After work time it was time for fun - riding the horse.

A fun, exciting and memory-making time spent together!
