Our Trip to Texas - Fredericksburg

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Park includes the LBJ Ranch, Texas Whitehouse, LBJ's birthplace, Johnson family cemetery, his grandparent's' home and ranch show barn.  The ranch is a working ranch today and the money from the registered Hereford cattle help support the park.

 LBJ's birthplace
This farm is operated as it would have been during LBJ's younger years.  The people are dressed in period costumes.

This lady was cooking food for the people who worked on the farm using vegetables from the garden they grow, eggs from the chickens, and meat from the hogs and cows.

Air Force One and a Half
The smaller jet was needed to land at the airstrip on the farm

Lunch at The Brewery with the group

Visiting William Chris Winery

Luckenbach, Texas
Yes, Luckenbach really does exist.  Unfortunately we did not see Willie and the Boys.

Our evening meal was at Hondo's.

The next morning we visited Fort Martin Scott, had pastries from Fredericksburg Bakery, shopped then headed home.

Fredericksburg, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a neat little town with over 80 historic points of interest and significance.  Unique shops and restaurants add to the charm.
