OKC for Patriots' Football Game

Mel and I headed to OKC for Jacob's first football game with the OKC Patriots.  We decided to make an adventure out of it.
First, we stopped at Wynnewood for Oklahoma Round-up Vintage Market.  I had seen it advertised so we checked it out.  $5 admission was for a child that was being treated at the Shriner's Hospital and redeemable at the food booth there.

Our next stop was at Crest' Grocery in Norman.  The previous week when checking out with groceries, I saw a flier advertising roasted Hatch peppers from New Mexico.
When we were making trips to Santa Fe, I would always purchase some.  Yes, I bought some to have fresh and in the freezer to use in cooking.

The OKC Patriots Game

Mathew's middle school varsity team was scouting for their game the next Tuesday.

It was fun being together to cheer for Jacob and the Patriots team!!

Emma and McKaylea were "water girls" for the game.

The final score - Yay!! The Patriots won!!!

A funny story - during the game while visiting with each other, Amberlea asked where we had eaten since we were in OKC.  We told her Golden Corral and how we enjoyed it.  The food was fresh and the price very reasonable.   She had to tease us that the week before we had eaten at Braum's (Jett's choice) and this week a buffet.  She couldn't believe that we drove all the way to OKC just to eat there.
Mel shared how that we were asking questions when we first went in (about 3:00 p.m.) - about the price, what we needed to do, etc.  After the cashier explained, Mel said, "Well, we qualify for the senior citizen's discount".  She replied,  "Yes, I know, they are the only ones who come in to eat this time of day!!"  Mel thought maybe we were beginning to look our age and more!!
Amberlea asked what we had.  She seem intrigued when I told her I had cheese enchilada with black-eye peas, mac & cheese, beans, meatloaf, salad and a garlic cheese biscuit.  What a combination !! to top it off was peach cobbler and ice cream.  Mel said he ate the seafood.
What a laugh we enjoyed over this and Amberlea's teasing!!   She told us she would look for some coupons so we could be more adventuresome on a budget!! We have so much fun together with various funny stories.
A great time and a win to boot!!  What more could anyone ask??

Our Fun Week-end in OKC

Our fun week-end began Friday afternoon when we picked Jett up from school.  A snack was needed not only after school, but also we were going to Jacob's scrimmage.

Melodi and the girls met us for our drive to Geary, Oklahoma.
Jacob warming up

The Patriots, Geary, Southwest Covenant of Yukon and Corn Bible Academy scrimmaged each other.

We left Jett and the girls at the Elliott's house,  The girls were spending the night with them.
The girls' and their families had a picture done for us.  How proud and how special it is!!

Saturday morning we went to the Elliott's house for pastries and coffee.  Melodi and the boys went to Shawnee for Mathew's scrimmage.

We arrived in Shawnee just in time for a downpour of rain with lightning and thunder.  Mel and I spent some time at Lowe's waiting for the weather to clear.  After several minutes, not knowing if the weather would clear or if the game would be played, we went back to OKC to do some errands.

Later in the afternoon,  the Elliott Family with Emma and McKaylea came to the hotel to swim.

Hideaway Pizza was where everyone met for a meal before going to the ballpark.

The Woods Family and the Elliott Family got tickets to the OKC Dodgers game for our birthdays.
The OKC Dodgers were playing the Reno Aces.
Our seats were in Section 107 - a great location!!

The program

Because our group had more than 10, we were given the hats and a $5 food voucher on each ticket.
The pink hats were in support of breast cancer awareness.

What great fun we had and many special memories were made!!
How blessed Mel and I are !!!
Thank you for our fun week-end!!
