Fence Work

Mel decided we needed another pasture for the horses.  That meant "fence work".  Guess who was the farm hand???  You guessed it!! ME!!

The steel posts we used

If you remember from an earlier post, I am the one holding the post while Mel uses the front-end of the tractor to push it into the ground.

After getting the post in the ground then we put up panels (better for horses than barbwire).
My job was then to put the clips around the post and panel.

A clip on the post holding the panel

The ground was so hard, Mel had to dig a while, pour water into the hole and let it seek down, then dig some more.  Time consuming!!  But he accomplished the job!!

The tractor sure is labor saving!!

The new fence

The 3 horses enjoying their new pasture!!

After many hours of work, patience, and time we did get the fence done.
We would work early in the morning until the heat began, go in for lunch, rest and resume our work later in the evening when it was cooler.
I was out feeding and watering the chickens when I heard a unusual "thundering sound".  I looked up to see the 3 horses running around the new pasture, kicking up their hind feet, and checking our their new area!

Celebrating Emma's 12th Birthday!

For Emma's birthday Melodi, Emma, McKaylea and I met at Norman for a morning of shopping and lunch together!  A fun "girls' time together"!!   It's hard to believe that our precious granddaughter is 12!!  How time passes quickly!

Lunch at Panera Bread

A special and fun time together!!

A Day in the City and Lunch with Our Cousin

Since we were in the City for a doctor's appointment, we asked our cousin, James, if he wanted to meet for lunch.  He suggested we meet at Junior's.  We enjoyed visiting and catching-up while eating a delicious lunch.

Mel and I enjoy browsing at Goodwill stores.  Who knows what treasure could be found there.  We purchased a preferred customer card for a 5% discount on purchases.  If we shop on Wednesdays, we get a senior citizen's discount of 10 %.    Our joke was we shopped at Goodwill so we could afford lunch.  Hah!!

It's fun to visit the City, but sure good to be back on the farm for the slower pace of life!!

On the Farm Before School Begins

Jett came to the farm before school starts!  It's hard to believe the summer is almost gone!
The hot days had us working out in the early mornings, then inside for the rest of the day.

Riding Buddy

Jett gave Buddy a couple of treats.  He put some in his pocket to have for Hotshot.
Buddy could smell the ones in Jett's pocket and wanted to get them!
Talk about "Up close and Personal"!!

Of course, Jett needed a chocolate malt!

Exercise time!

Legos

Crafts

Creationary

Grandpop was digging a hole for a post.  He saw a small hole and decided to dig it deeper.  Wow, the diggers went down in a hurry and got stuck.  After much digging and work, he got them out.  Evidently, the hole was a test hole for sand dug several years ago.

Look at the diggers caked with mud!
Jett cleaned them for Grandpop!

Jett and I helped Grandpop measure and place flags where the posts were to be put for the fence.
Our payment was lunch at Mazzio's!

Waffles with chocolate chips and butterscotch chips!  Yum!!

We enjoyed several movies, playing games, eating pizza at Mazzio's, riding Buddy and just having a fun time together!!

Together for Jett's Baptism

Jett was baptized so the family attended Trinity to witness this wonderful time together!
How thrilled we are that Jett gave his heart and life to our precious Savior and Lord!
A meal at Chuy's was enjoyed by all!!

Posing for his picture!

A wonderful and special time together!!

Guess Who Was On the Porch and Patio??

Mel put Buddy and Hotshot in the pasture in front of the house.  He left the gates crossing the driveway lane open so the horses could go back to the barn to get water.
We looked outside later in the afternoon to check on them.  This is what we saw from the patio doors in the kitchen.

This was the evidence left on the front porch!

No problem for the horses to follow the mule to the barn!!
