Family Books for 2015

Our family books for 2015

Thank you, Melodi, for informing me about a new way to convert my blog into a family book!
It is wonderful, so very easy and time saving!!

Mel's New Toy

Since the "Mule" was having problems, we decided it was time for a new farm vehicle!

Breakfast with the Kids and Grandkids

Breakfast at Cracker Barrel!

So good to meet, eat together and catch up on family news!!

The Farm Show

We made a visit to the Farm Show in OKC.
All types of farm equipment and booths promoting many farm products were there.

A demonstration of working with and unfamiliar horse was given.
By the end of the demonstration, the fellow was standing up on the saddle on the back of the horse!

How the Garden Grows and Time to Plant More!!

The potatoes, onions and cabbage are growing and looking pretty.  It was now time to plant corn, green beans, okra, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers.

It is very dry so Mel worked on an easy way to water.

We ended up using a large stand-up sprinkler to water.
Hopefully, we will receive a good rain soon so we can have delicious fresh veggies!!

April Horse Show

Mel and Buttercup did very well in the April Show.  He came in 3rd in each of the 4 events!  Way to go!!
Preparing for the day's show

Congratulations Mel and Buttercup!!

Bruno and Priscilla's Antics

Our 2 rescue cats are so funny!  Here are a few of their antics:

Bruno on the chicken coop in the garage
We use this one at night for the chicks.

Priscilla watching me in the garage

I was working on the outside chicken pen and Bruno decided to help.

Priscilla enjoys the sink in the garage.

On the patio

I do believe the cats have settled in nicely!!

How the Chicks Have Grown

Our 6 pullets are doing well and really growing.  In fact, one is trying to "fly the coop".  Time to move them to their coop in the garage and daytime outside pen.

The brave little girl!

When she enjoys sitting on the side of the tote, it is definitely outside time!!

Their daytime pen

I do put a top on the pen so the cats and chicken hawks stay out and the chicks stay in!

The silkies were checking out the chicks and their pen and Bruno was checking out the Silkies and pen.

New House for the Silkies

We decided we needed a small house for our Silkies.  The other hens were not too sure and friendly (and vice versa) with the Silkies.

Looks as though Mr. Rooster is satisfied with the new home!

Saturday (Easter Eve) with the Grandkids and Their Parents

Saturday, the day before Easter, was spent together with the Woods family on the farm.
We started the day with coffee and then introduced Melodi and Bryan to the cinnamon roll waffles.
The boys headed out with Grandpop to do some work.  The rest of us began working on lunch and enjoyed visiting.
Breakfast

The boys mixed the chicken feed for me.

The chicken pen and chest were brought over from the Annex.

Lunch was ham, baked bean, hash brown casserole, hot rolls and bunny cake.

The girls made a tent using blankets.

Time to load up for OKC

What a great looking family!

Thank you Bryan and Melodi for sharing the kids with us this past week!  We had a wonderful time and so many laughs!  How blessed we are with such sweet, thoughtful and loving grandkids!!

Funny story:  Mel and the boys loaded up the wire from the fence and some other metal around the place and took it to sell.  The amount it brought was $1.45.  Mel just told the man to keep the money.
It was well worth that to get rid of the metal.
