September Horse Show

Mel did really well in the horse show this month.  He won 1st in cow-working, 3rd in reining,  5th in pleasure and 8th in trail.  When all was said and done, he was Reserve Champion, winning 2nd place overall!  Congratulations to this horse man!
The weather was better so Grammy was able to go for part of the show.  She did get to see him win 1st!  She said she was "on edge" that he would let the calf get past him.  Of course, he didn't!!

Hauling Hay

Many years ago Mel and his brother had a picture made while hauling hay.  They were lifting the hay above their heads.  Well, the other day Mel and I went to get a few bales of hay for the horses.  Believe it or not, Mel can still lift the hay.  The only difference was he told me to hurry and take the picture

Then

Now

The Tiny Black Kitten

Grammy got a tiny black kitten (evidently an orphan) from her brother.  Later in the day she was not feeling well and came to our house to spend the night.  She told me to take the kitten and keep it.  We did!
Since it was so little, it could not eat cat food.  I bought some kitten milk formula and baby food meat for it to eat.
A few days later, Grammy wanted the kitten back.  Mel and I took it back with its supplies.  The next day, she returned the kitten to her brother.
So goes the saga of the tiny black kitten.

What a wonderful trip with so many historical sites we saw and the fun things we did!   Our time together was priceless!  After driving 2,898 miles and taking 963 pictures, it was good to be home.  As the saying goes, "There's no place like home!"

Our Presidential Trip - Day 8

Friday - Our day began with breakfast and then we drove to historic downtown Branson and surrounding area.  Later in the day we enjoyed 2 shows.

After breakfast we relaxed for a while waiting for the ticket office to open.

The delicious fudge

We ate at Panera Bread for a mid-afternoon meal.

Pierce Arrow Show

Six
This was a different type of show for us.  It was amazing how the 6 brothers could make all the musical sounds without any instruments.  (In their family they had 10 brothers)

Each of the brothers drove a car with his color stripe.

Show-Off!!

After Six we had ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery!  Fantastic!!

A wonderful time !
