Blackberry Cobbler

A few years ago I planted a couple of blackberry bushes by the fence in the backyard.  I would tend to them and they would produce a few berries.  This year the spread behind the chicken pen and I have more or less neglected them.  They are producing quite a few blackberries!  I have gathered enough to make 2 cobblers and a batch of blackberry jam!  Yum!  Yum!

My recipe

Top with vanilla ice cream and you have a scrumptious dessert!!

Meet Prissy!!

Meet Prissy!!  She is the newest critter on the farm.  A relative did not want her kitten any longer so she was given to us.  I think she is enjoying the wide open space at the barn!

She is a sweet, gentle and loving thing!

A Milestone for the Silkies and A Shocker!!

I moved the Silkies outside during the day in their pen.  At night I continue to bring them inside.
Our cats, especially Bruno, are very fascinated with them.  He would like to play with them I do believe.
In the pen

I looked outside later to see this!!
Bruno sitting on top of their pen!

Nothing like making yourself comfy!!

Priscilla joined him a little later.

I suppose this should help the Silkies be more adjusted to the backyard when they are big enough to run around!!

How the Silkies are Growing!

The Silkie chicks look a little scraggly right now with part feathers and part fuzz.

Sand for Mitch

Mitch was taking a glass blowing class.   Silica sand is used for the glass.  Since we have the sand plant close by, we were on the look-out for some silica.
Many times the trucks will stop and clean out the trailers before going into the plant to load sand.  Luckily, by the side of the road, I found some for him.

What I found beside the road

Bags of sand for Mitch

We are anxious to see Mitch's work!
Sand from the plant here made into glass would make it more meaningful!!
