Moving Cows

After receiving some good rains, Mel decided to move the cows from the annex to the 50 acres at the house.  It was time to "cowboy" and "cowgirl" up!

Hooking up the trailer

While Grandpop was getting the cows up, Jacob was checking out a hole by the barn.

The first group ready to load

Jake guarded one gate

Mat guarded another gate

The boys and I stayed with the cows at the annex while Grandpop unloaded  each group he had in the trailer.  It took 4 loads to move them all.
It's hard to believe Jake is almost 14!

Mat is 12!

After all the cows had been moved, Mel had me drive the "mule" to the 50 acres so the cows would follow and make sure they knew where the water was.  Mat took these pictures of the cows behind us.

Now they know where the water is

Grandpop followed on Buttercup so she could get some practice with the cows.

A good time for Mel to practice closing the gate on Buttercup

A busy and entertaining day on the farm!
