Friday - Meeting the Elliott's and The Drive South

Mitch and Amberlea both needed to work Friday morning.  Meeting them at Davis to begin our journey to Galveston would save about an hour.
Jerry was our chauffeur to Davis.  We stopped at Abuelita's at Sulphur for lunch.  He left us at The Fried Pie Place at Davis.  I had promised him some fried pies!!  I also bought some for the road!!

Mel checked out the best route for us so we could bypass Dallas!  We figured on a Friday evening at rush hour and with rain, we would be wise to go around!

Our selfie while waiting!

He read about our ship, The Carnival Breeze, while waiting.
The Breeze could hold up to 3600 people!!  Wow!!

At times it rained very hard!  The Elliotts drove in and out of rain (as well as construction) on their way down!

Hard rain and a convertible are not a good mix!  The fellow parked under the awning during the rain!
Quite an unusual car!!

The Elliotts have arrived!!

Our chauffeur!

My companions in the backseat!

Our original plan was to drive to Greenville and spend the night.
We stopped at Ta Molly's for dinner!  Delicious!!

The Johnson Space Center was our agenda for Saturday.  To have the most time to tour it, we decided to drive further down the road.   Mitch was the one to decide when he wanted to stop for the evening.

Mel filled up the gas tank.

One of the storm clouds as we drove south.  The rain was so hard at times that it was hard to see the road!  Flash flood warnings were given for our location!  Mitch did a superb job driving!!

La Quinta Inn at Huntsville was our stop for the evening.

After driving for several hours we decided to call ahead for reservations at LaQuinta in Huntsville.
Amberlea made the call.  We were told they had no rooms available!!  She checked further about another location.  I checked about another LaQuinta as well.  Somehow, Amberlea found out she had called Huntsville, ALABAMA instead of Huntsville, Texas!  Thank goodness they did not have any rooms available!!!
Songs from the "Oldies" playlist were enjoyed on our drive -  Conway Twitty, Hank Thompson, LeRoy Van Dyke (Auctioneer Boy song), Hank Williams and Charlie Pride!   The Elliotts decided they now had new songs on their playlist!  Jett thought some of the "oldies" were great!!
