Thursday - Grand Cayman, Cayman

Today was Grand Cayman, Cayman.  We arrived at 7:00 a.m. and would depart at 4:00 p.m.
The Elliott Family had a snorkeling and sting ray tour.  The Woods Family, Mel and I were going to the beach, then shop.

Grand Cayman Port

On the "tender" taking us to shore.  It was so full that some had to stand.

Filleting fish on the shore
 Carnival Breeze from the shore

Checking the map for the direction to 7 Mile Beach

The walk to the beach

Along the way the boys found "treasures"

The crabs on the rocks

After walking for a while we decided to get a taxi.  It was well worth it!!  We paid $2.50 apiece one way.

The fellow explained the public beach area.

Fun in the water!!

Off to Shop

Waiting for the Public Taxi Van

We watched 3 iguanas while waiting.

The Taxi Driver
It cost $2.50 apiece for the public taxi - well worth the money!!

Public taxi vans lined up  - a big business in Grand Cayman!

Sights of Grand Cayman

We stopped in a pharmacy to see if they had a curling iron for me.

Yes!! They had one!!

Mel bought new shoes.  We had looked at some on the ship, but they didn't have his size.

Getting my bag organized

Time to pose!

Our "tender" to take us back to the ship

 Boarding the ship

Thursday's critter on the bed

In the cabin

We were ready for something to eat!!

Later in the afternoon Mel and I had the drink of the day and Jake had a coke.

The bartender

We made the board!

Jake did too (with his Coke)!!

More fun in the dining room!

The magic trick with napkin blowing
The waiter would blow and make the napkin stand out.  He was actually using a knife to make it work.

Our 5 Special Blessings!!

Grand Cayman money - $1 American = $1.25 Cayman money

Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean and the location of the territory's capital, George Town.
There are just under 600 banks and trust companies in the Grand Cayman, including 43 of the 50 largest banks in the world.  Because of this large financial presence on the island, banking, investments, and insurance drive the economy in Grand Cayman.
This island also is high on the list for tourism.  Scuba diving, snorkeling and beach fun are popular activities on Grand Cayman.  It is known for its coral reefs and underwater sea walls.  Seven Mile Beach has the largest concentration of visitors and tourists on the island.

Highlights of the Day:
The Woods Family, Mel and I had a "taxi lady stalker"!  She followed us and several times told us we needed to ride with her.
Jake, Grandmom and Grandpop played a game of Sorry according to Grandpop's rules.  It was the shortest game in history!
The Elliott Family was on the last "tender" to the ship!  They had fun snorkeling and "petting" (if you call it that) the sting rays.
Emma said she watched the movie, "Contraband", 3 times because her Dad went to sleep and had the remote.
At the beach is when you really need sunscreen - our can of sunscreen would not work at all!!
Mitch got very sunburned on his back.  He had asked Amber to put sunscreen on his back.  He doubts she did!!
Jake couldn't find his tie when getting dressed for dinner!!  How can you lose a tie in the small cabin of a ship???
Jake said, "Man!  I have to let my belt out a notch each night because of the good food!"  Wow!  I'm getting those love handles around my waist!"
While walking to dinner Jake got a "Wow!" from a girl in the hallway!
